Physicians

photo: Dr. GardnerBruce Gardner, M.D.

Dr. Gardner graduated from Stanford University before moving to Eastern Washington in 1973. After careers as a Volkswagen mechanic and a college professor, he received an MS degree from the University of Oregon followed by an MD from the University of Washington, with honors. He has worked in Family Practice in Seattle for the last 29 years. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and AOA, and the National Medical Honor Society. In 2007, he received the Red Cross “Everyday Hero” award for his rescue efforts at a Seattle Metro bus accident. Dr. Gardner has two adult children, lives in Seattle, and strives to be the man his dog thinks he is.

Dr. Mazzeo has been in partice in North Seattle for nearly 20 years. A graduate from the University of Washington School of Medicine, he completed his residency at Swedish Hospital and earned his undergradute degree in Latin American History from UCLA. Prior to becoming a board-certified Family Physician, he was an elementary school teacher in Alaska. Once a teacher, always a teacher. Dr. Mazzeo is particularly interested in preventive health care and takes time to educate his patients about their health and how to improve it. He also devotes time educating other physicians in the community. He enjoys Mariners baseball and everything Italian, and especially enjoys spending time with his family.

Dr. Reid is a board-certified Family Physician who has been delivering patient-centered primary care here in Seattle for more than a decade. She earned her Bachelor's degree from MIT, then began work as a research scientist developing transdermal drug delivery systems, and later as a Molecular Biologist at Stanford University. With a desire to spend time with people rather than test tubes, she returned to school and received her medical degree from Northwestern University, and completed her Family Medicine residency at University of Washington. Dr, Reid enjoys educating patients about their health choices, and is especially interested in caring for families of all types. She delights in her youngest patients and enjoys taking care of folks of all ages. In her spare time, Jean enjoys travel, theater and the outdoors. She is active in her community, especially around environmental causes.

Dr. Urriola is board-certified in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine. She graduated from medical school at the Federal University of Espirito in Brazil, and completed residency programs in Panama City, Panama and at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, she earned her Masters in Public Health from St. Louis University where she was the assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Community and Family Medicine. Dr. Urriola believes that health care can be enhanced through special attention to lifestyle that includes healthy choices. She takes a holistic approach to care, and incorporates proven natural practices within a contemporary medical regiment. She speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese, and has practiced medicine in Latin America. Dr. Urriola enjoys hiking, chocolate and cooking healthy ethnic foods. She is married with two children.

 

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Ms. Vietmeier is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) with Board Certification (BC) in Family Practice (FNP). She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing (MN) from the University of Washington after working as a registered nurse (RN) since 1985, and has been providing primary care to families in Seattle for over 18 years. It is her goal to create an environment where patients are active and interactive participants in their health care. She promotes optimal wellness at every age and stage of life with careful consideratiob for each person’s diversity and life situation. The majority of her patients are women, adolescents, and families with young children but she has all patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and is comfortable with GLBTQ patients and their families. Volunteering and being part of the community are very important to her. She is a Seattle native that enjoys yoga, gardening, dancing, reading, many outdoor activities, and hanging out with her adult children.

Ms. Van Tran is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  She graduated from Seattle University in 2009 with her Master's in Nursing.  Van Tran had been caring for surgical and oncology patients at Stevens Hospital from 2006-2009.  Her passion for caring and serving people's needs led her expand her scope of care and join Ballinger Clinic.  She speaks fluent English and Vietnamese.  Van's vision is to provide progressive, compassionate, and holistic care to families of all ethnicities.  She enjoys playing the piano, singing, reading, traveling, meeting new people.  She is married with one child.
